Writing A-01 – The Empty Page

An Encouragement to Write

The Empty Page is more than a hurdle — it’s a mirror. This first essay explores why starting a story feels so impossible, and how the fear isn't about the story itself, but about what it says about us. We chase outlines, plots, and worldbuilding to avoid the judgment that comes with writing the first sentence. But what if we let go of all that, and just wrote like we talk — with care, with intent, and without permission?

This is Alexis on Writing, a series of spoken essays for writers who overthink, hesitate, and still show up to make something true.
